Fomena (Ash), Dec 30, GNA – More organisations, groups and individuals continue to mourn with the Adansi Traditional Council (ATC) following the death of the Adansihene, Nana Ofori Agyemang II. Nana Agyemang, 69, who died in July 2005 after a short illness, is yet to be buried at Fomena, the traditional seat of the Council. The latest groups to sign the book of condolence in honour of the late Adansihene on Thursday were officials from the Obuasi Municipal and Adansi South District Assemblies. Both assemblies were led by their Chief Executives, Mr. Joe Boampong and Mr. Francis Dorpenyoh respectively.
Other officials included Nana Asirifi Asare II, the Municipal Presiding Member, Mr M.K. Addai, the Co-ordinating Director and Mr. Ernest Kofi Yakah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for New Edubiase. Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the Adansi North District Chief Executive and Mr Hafix Adam, the District Co-ordinating Director, who had earlier signed the book of condolence joined the two assemblies. The two assemblies presented a total cash of six million cedis and 30 bottles of schnapps towards the preparation of the burial of the late Omanhene.
Pastor Osgood K. Ennin, the Bekwai district pastor of the Church of Pentecost, also donated cash of 300,000 cedis.
The acting President of the Council, Nana Assiama Guahyia Ababio, expressing the Council’s appreciation to the assemblies, hinted that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was in the process of solving all chieftaincy disputes that had rocked the Adansi State.
He announced that the preparation towards the burial of the late Adansihene was far advanced and hoped the three assemblies, constituting the Adansi State would support the chiefs to organize a fitting burial. Among those present were the Adansihemaa, Nana Kwantwiwaa Apoma II and other chiefs.
