More Ghanaians return from Libya

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has evacuated 3,777 Ghanaians from Libya from 11 flights made since the operation began, Mr James Owusu-Amoah, a Co-ordinator with NADMO said on Thursday.

In a statement issued in Accra, Mr Owusu-Amoah said the increase in number is due to an additional flight to bring the flights a day to two. The additional flight began on October 24 as a result of which the operation recorded a total of 621 returnees on Thursday.

“Ashanti and the Greater Accra in that order from the Brong Ahafo region follow the highest number of returnees per flight. The Upper West and Upper East regions have recorded the lowest so far,” Mr Owusu-Amoah said.

He said on the average, more than 50 per cent of the returnees have been treated of general bodily pains, headache, diarrhoea, chest pains and coughing while vaccination against celebro spinal meningitis is continuing for all returnees.
