More communities in Eastern Region to get treated water

Koforidua, July 22, GNA – At least 25 communities in the Yillo and the Upper Manya Krobo districts will soon be provided with treated, Dr Kwase Akyem Apea-Kubi, the Eastern Regional Minister, has said.

He said this on Thursday when he inspected the water supply intake point built on the bank of the Volta Lake to connect treated water to communities at Poponya Fantem in the Upper Manya District.

Dr Apea-Kubi said the Ghana Water Company, in collaboration with the Sotrad Water Company from Belgium, were working so hard to ensure residents get access to good drinking water as soon as possible.

The only source of water for the residents is the untreated water from the Volta Lake.

Some of the residents said they suffered from water borne diseases and also appealed to the government to rehabilitate their roads.
