Accra, Jan.15, GNA. – The Civil and Public Servants Association on Thursday said that it would be happier if watching of Television during working hours would be regulated instead of the government’s directive to switch off completely.
He said it was not television per se that caused lower productivity but also in some cases the absence of logistics and broken down equipment, the cutting down of budgetary allocations to Ministries and Departments, among others, militate against productivity.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra, Mr James Ammisah, Acting Executive Secretary of the Association said Television in offices is not a luxury as seen by some people but a vital tool for education and information.
“We have to watch it to become abreast with what is going on, and for educative programmes on science, environment, economy and culture.”. Mr Ammisah observed that the adverse consequences of the directive is that its strict compliance may lead to flimsy excuses for absenteeism. He said there are also other Ministries for which information is crucial in the efficient performance of their duties.
