Montie trio should serve two thirds of their sentence – Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson has said the Montie trio serving a 4 month jail term deserve their sentencing to restore decorum in the system ahead of the December polls.

According to him, the contemnors must be made to serve at least two thirds of the jail term for them to feel the pinch of their irresponsible remarks made against the judges.

“The president should not succumb to the pressure being given him; I’ll suggest that his pardon should come when they have served about two and half months. Kwasi Pratt, Kweku Baako and I have been through worst circumstance in this country for us to be able to speak within limits. I was in BNI cells for five months and after first two months I was craving to rather go to prisons than the BNI cells, but it never happened for me. There must be some decorum in this country, he told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

Several government appointees and Ministers have signed the petition book opened to firm up support for the release of the Montie FM contemnors incarcerated by the Supreme court.

The Ga Traditional Council has also joined the action calling on President John Dramani Mahama to pardon the Montie FM contemnors.

The three are serving a four-month jail term for contempt after they were found guilty by the Supreme court for scandalising the apex court and also bringing its name into disrepute when they threatened to kill justices of the bench.
