Mohammed Abdullah wins NPP primaries at Sene

Kwame Danso (B/A), Sept 5, GNA – Mr Mohammed Belinyi Abdullah, 34-year-old mechanical engineer based at Ashiaman, near Tema, has been elected to contest the Sene constituency seat in the 2008 parliamentary election for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Abdullah polled 63 voters out of 111 total votes cast to beat Mr Ernest Buanya-Mensah, presiding member of the Sene District Assembly, who got 48 votes.

Speaking after the election, Mr Kofi Darko, Brong-Ahafo Regional Organiser of the NPP, congratulated the two contestants and urged them to come together and plan towards wrestling the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He said the NPP had put in place pragmatic measures to win 22 out of the 24 seats in the Ashanti Region.

Madam Cynthia Titiriku-Danso, District Chief Executive for Sene, called on polling station executives not to shun their political opponents but rather go and educate them on the need to vote for the NPP.

In a related development, the District Chief Executive for Atebubu, Mr Cassius Osei-Poku has been elected to contest the Atebubu parliamentary seat at primaries held at Atebubu. He polled 93 out of 129 votes to beat two other contestants, Nana Kwadwo Kwakye, deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, who polled 29 votes and Mr Kofi Amoakohene, a businessman, who got seven votes.
