MOH commends two Teaching Hospitals

Accra, Sept. 23, GNA – The Ministry of Health on Wednesday commended the managements of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for their collaborative effort last weekend that saved the life of a two-year-old girl whose throat was accidentally blocked by some grains of maize she was eating. “The Ministry is particularly proud to be associated with this high level of cooperation and team work, which saw the medical teams of the two teaching hospitals and the staff of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) putting their resources and expertise together to save the life of the two-year-old girl, who was in a life-threatening situation,” it said in a statement signed by Mr Dan Osman Mwin, Head of Public Relations. The Ministry also thanked Professor Ohene Adjei, Chief Executive of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, for taking the initiative and also bearing the airfare as well as the medical expenses of the girl. The Ministry said it was its expectation that all public health institutions would emulate the shining example of the high level cooperation within the relevant departments of the two teaching hospitals and NAS. It said it was a show of professionalism in their quest to save such a young life.
