The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Health (MoH) has lauded the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) for resuming work after a week’s strike.
Mr Tony Goodman indicated he took to his Facebook wall on Saturday, November 12, to praise the nurse for resuming their duties.
He encouraged the aggrieved nurses to liaise with health authorities to resolve all outstanding issues for the provision of healthcare to continue smoothly.
“I commend our compassionate nurses for calling off their strike action. Let’s work together to resolve the remaining issues.”
The nurses returned to work after a directive from the association.
The General Secretary of the association, Perpetual Ofori- Ampofo, disclosed that nurses and midwives would resume their duties but government needed to honour its promise.
The nurses, who joined agitations on the labour front, withdrew their services after raising issues with their unpaid salary arrears, posting of graduate nurses, sale of upgrading forms, and inadequate logistics to government health facilities across the country.
The leadership of the GRNMA said it had given government until February next year to have its members’ grievances resolved.
