Koforidua, Dec. 25, GNA- The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in the Eastern Region has organized a two-day Christmas Food Bazaar aimed at making foodstuffs more cheaper for consumers in Koforidua during the holidays.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Director of the Ministry, Mr. Kwaku Amoo-Baffoe, explained that the bazaar was an attempt to bring farmers and consumers closer together as far as marketing of farm produce was concerned to boost production and marketing of food.
He noted that during festive occasions people complain about high prices of foodstuffs, MOFA, therefore, organised the bazaar to make food items cheaper for the general public.
He said prices of foodstuffs were reduced to meet the reach of the average Ghanaian.
Some of the items sold were fowls, selling between 35,000 cedis and 50,000 cedis, yams, between six and 15,000 cedis a tube and a gallon of palm oil for 21,000 cedis.
Organisers of the Bazaar expressed satisfaction about the response from the public.
