Modern Women of Wisdom Organisation donates to Gomoa East

Modern Women of Wisdom Organization (MWOW), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in the Greater Accra Region, donated items worth thousands of Cedis to the poorest of the poor at Gomoa East in their “Operation Smile, hold a hand project” on Republic Day.

The items ranged from clothes, mosquito nets, slippers among others.

The Operation “Smile hold a hand project” is a concrete and a radical action taken by the NGO to uproot social ills such as abject poverty, rural-urban migration, human trafficking, curable diseases etc in marginalised areas.

Pregnant women, the aged, nursing mothers and those bedridden were given mosquito nets to help reduce malaria in the area. Children, Most of whom were walking barefooted were given slippers to put on.

The entourage was led by the Project Manager of the group Miss Agnes Ashun. Speaking to the media, Miss. Ashun asked the Government to provide a good living wage for the mass of workers which will enable them to live in pleasant housing, eat well, rest well, have access to a rich flow of public newspapers, magazines, Radio, TV and other information for personal decision making.

Nana Ama Asantewaa, the Chief Executive officer of the group also speaking to the media, urged the general public to get involve in initiatives that have a positive social bearing on the lives of those living on the margins of society.

In attendance was the NPP parliamentary Candidate for Gomoa East Mr. Kojo Asomani who seized the opportunity to plead with those present to vote for him massively come November 7 during the General elections. He pledged to transform the living conditions of his constituents from their current state.

The members of the organization had a sense of satisfaction as they were glad they had obeyed the fundamental law that dwells in the heart of every person who looks sincerely into the eyes of his fellow human in pain on the path of life.
