Moderator urges Ghanaians to promote forgiveness

The Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, the Right Reverend Dr. Edem Tettey, has appealed to Ghanaians to live out forgiveness, peace and reconciliation during this year’s Easter festivities.

“At home, in our families – both nucleus and extended, between friends, at our work places, within and between political parties, in the nation at large, let us pray to God for the power to forgive one another no matter how painful the offence might be,” Rev Dr Tettey said, in his 2015 Easter Message to the nation.

“When you forgive someone, you release him or her from the power of guilt and you offer that person peace,” he explained. “The state of guilt is counter-productive.

It affects performance in many areas of human endeavor.

He said one way to overcome many of our national challenges is to extend forgiveness to one another.

He stated,”“It is not easy but God will help us to do it. In the midst of suffering, Christ prayed for those who crucified Him that God should forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Rev. Dr Tettey said the Global Evangelical Church would continue to pray fervently for Ghana and educate members to be pro-active and responsible citizens.

The church, he said, would also continue to engage in social interventions and holistic programmes as its contribution to national development.
