Model School scores 100 percent with distinction in BECE

Kumasi, Dec. 26, GNA – The Presbyterian Private Model Junior High School (JHS) at Asuoyeboah in Kumasi placed second in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) ranking of 38 schools in the Kwadaso Education Sub-Metro. It scored 100 percent with one distinction. The school, established in 2004 by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana as a model, that year presented its first batch of 20 candidates for the examination and 16 out of the number had aggregate six whilst the rest had 7, 8, 9 and 10 in that order.

Lieutenant Colonel Edmund Kwasi Otuo-Owusu (Rtd), headmaster of the school, said the maiden academic feat of the school was a god start to propel it into one of the first class schools in the region. He said the school, which started with the primary in 2003, had an initial enrolment of 101 but with the inception of the JHS the following year, enrolment had risen to 310. The headmaster appealed to parents to pay their ward’s school fees on time to enable the school pay its teachers to help maintain the high standards always. Rev. Raphael Aboagye Appiah, Minister in Charge of Asuoyeboah Presbyterian Church, called on parents to instil discipline in their children to enable them become responsible adults in future. He advised students and the pioneer graduates of the school to lead lives worthy of emulation and thus become disciples of the traditional Presbyterian discipline. 26 Dec 07
