Mobisqauds Director Appeals For Contracts

Suhum (GAR), June 20, – The Director of the National Mobilisation Programme (NMP), Major Rexford Adu, has appealed to District Assemblies to offer contracts to artisan mobisquads in their districts. He explained that such a policy would enable the district assemblies to create employment avenues and also cut down on the cost of their projects. Major Adu made the appeal when he paid a curtesy call on Mr Kwabena Darteh, Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar district chief executive at Suhum as part of his three day working visit to the Eastern region. He urged the district assemblies to promote agricultural activities through the national mobilization concept and to consider the mobisquads in the disbursement of the 20 per cent of the assembly’s common fund meant for small scale business promotion. Mr Harry Adorbor, chief liaison officer at the NMP headquarters advised the mobisquad groups to take the cooperative concept seriously to enable them to benefit from more assistance from government. Mr Divine Opare, Eastern regional liaison officer of the NMP, assured the director and his entrourage of the readiness of his office to supervise projects implementation and to ensure that all assistance given to the mobisquads in the region were put to good use. The director inspected mobisquad projects in seven districts – Fanteakwa, East Akim, Birim North, Kwahu South, Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar, Akuapem South and Akuapem North.
