Mobile phone thief granted bail

A 21 year-old illegal miner, Ibrahim Adams, has been granted GH¢ 5,000.00 bail with surety, by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for stealing a mobile phone valued at GH¢ 1,500.00.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

He would re-appear on January 21, 2016.

The Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court that, the complainant and the accused person live at Wasa Chiraah, near Nkwanta in the Western Region.

He said on November 30, the complainant left his room unlocked and went to town to buy some items, on his return he noticed that his door was widely opened.

The complainant went behind his room to conduct a search and saw the accused person standing there, but he took to his heels and hid in a nearby bush.

Inspector Amponsah said, the complainant informed some members of the community watch dog committee who chased and arrested him in the bush and handed him over to the Agona Amenfi police.

He admitted the offence in his caution statement.
