Asamankese, Feb. 25, GNA – Issaka Mohammed, unemployed, 31, described by the police as a member of a mobile phone snatching syndicate at Asamankese has appeared before a circuit court at Asamankese charged with possessing narcotic drugs without authority. His plea was not taken and was remanded to re-appear on March 11. Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that on February 15, a case of mobile phone snatching was reported at the Asamankese Police Station.
He said the District Police Commander mobilized his men and moved into action.
The prosecution said Mohammed was a prime suspect and the police went to his house to look for the stolen mobile phone. He said when Mohammed room was searched, two mobile phones suspected to have been stolen were found.
Further search in the room revealed 48 wrappers of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.
During interrogation, Mohammed claimed ownership of the wrappers but failed to disclose his source of supply, the prosecution said, adding that the exhibits had been sent to the Ghana Standard Board for examination.
