Mobil Oil Commisions Pre-mix Station In Winneba

Winneba (Central Region), 17 Sept.,

A 46 million-cedi pre-mix petrol outlet for Winneba Cooperative Canoe Fishermen Society was commissioned by the Managing Director of Mobil Oil Ghana Limited (MOGL), Mr Craig Murphy, at the Winneba Landing Beach yesterday. Mobil provided fuel sales equipment worth 25 million cedis while the Ghana Commercial Bank offered financial assistance totalling 21 million cedis to enable the society to purchase and distribute pre-mix petrol to its members. Mr Murphy announced plans by MOGL to train members of the society in marketing, business management and fire prevention among others, to enable the society and the Winneba community derive maximum benefit from the project. Mr Mike Hammah, Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport who chaired the function, assured farmers and fishermen of the government’s continued support to enable them to live up to expectation. Mr Hammah who is also Member of Parliament for the area, said it was in appreciation of their good work that the government instituted the ‘national farmers’ day’ to honour hard working and dedicated farmers and fishermen in the country. He expressed concerned about the decline in the fishing industry and advised fishermen to stop the negative fishing practices which undermine the progress of the sector.
