MMT driver in court for possessing narcotic drugs

Sampson Agblorti, 48, a Metro Mass Driver at the Tema depot was on Wednesday arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs without authority.

He pleaded not guilty and would be brought back to court on September, 8.

Agblorti, who was driving a Metro Mass Bus with registration number GR6346-10 was arrested on April 11, 2014, when 17 slabs of narcotic drugs were found in the battery compartment of the bus.

Prosecuting, DSP Samuel Aboagye told the Court presided over by Justice Roberta E. Otrisu, that Agblorti in his statement, said he was engaged by somebody who he did not name to take the drugs to Accra.

The prosecution said Agblorti was arrested at a Police barrier on the Dzemeni-Peki road, upon a tip-off and handed over to the Drugs Law Enforcement Unit at the Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation.
