Missionary hospitals restore services to Health Insurance card holders

National health insurance cardholders can now access health services from all missionary hospitals following a decision by the Christian Hospitals Association of Ghana to rescind its suspension of services to subscribers over delays in claims payment by the Government.

A statement released from the National Health Insurance Authority said: “Following the release of additional funds from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to its service providers, the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) has confirmed receipt of payment for services provided to NHIS cardholders”.

The statement signed by Consultant Eric Ametor-Quarmyne said: “CHAG has therefore called off its suspension of service to card bearers of the NHIS, effective Friday, March 15, 2013”.

The statement further noted that: “In a letter to the NHIA dated March 14, 2013, CHAG said, ‘feedback from our member institutions indicates that there is evidence of receipt of funds transfer for September and October 2012 as at today March 14, in addition we have also been informed that payment towards November 2012 is being processed’”.

The letter further stated that, ‘all CHAG facilities will resume accepting NHIS cards with effect from Friday, March 15, 2013.’

It continued that: “The NHIA appreciates the patience and cooperation of its valued stakeholders and assures the general public, particularly subscribers of its commitment to providing financial protection against the cost of quality basic healthcare delivery in Ghana”.
