Mission and other hospitals to participate in NHIS

Kyebi (E/R), Feb. 21, GNA – Mission and some private hospitals in addition to government health institutions are to participate in the District Mutual Health Insurance under the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Mr. Christian Ashiagbor of the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme said this at a meeting of Chiefs, opinion leaders and Assembly Members from the Atiwa Constituency on the proposed East Akim District Health Insurance Scheme at Kyebi, on Friday. The meeting considered the constitution for the Scheme organised by the District Assembly.

He said the decision to accredit private hospitals and clinics to participate in Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, was to ensure affordable quality health care at the doorsteps of the people.

Mr. Ashiagbor urged the participants to educate the people on the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme for their support. Mr. Amponsah Antwi, Member of the District Health Insurance Implementation Committee, gave the assurance that the District Assembly would support the Scheme when established and appealed to the participants to ensure its success.
