Missing Baby: Zongo community attack KATH Nurses, Staff

Some members of the muslim community where parents of a dead baby reside, stormed the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital Thursday and beat up hospital staff including Nurses.

The police had to intervene to disperse the agitated crowd.

Nurses who were attacked in the process have served notice of a strike following the incident.

Local reporter Hafiz Tijani told XYZ News that they feel insecure working at the hospital.

Meanwhile, authorities at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are expected to submit a formal report to the Health Minister Thursday, on the suspected baby theft case.

The family of the dead baby is threatening to sue the hospital if the body of the baby isn’t found.

The family wants the body for Islamic burial.

Members of the Zongo community in Kumasi also plan on demonstrating if an investigation into the case doesn’t yield any fruits.

The baby’s family claims the hospital officials aren’t cooperating with the process.

PRO of the health ministry, Tony Goodman, in an interview with XYZ News rejected the allegation. He said the ministry won’t compromise on the matter.
