Minority leader threatens to quit NDC, If

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin has threatened to quit the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if the National Executive of the Party decides to accept Alhaji Inusah back to the NDC.

“It is not in my power to reject or accept him as a member of the party but if those who have that power go ahead and accept Alhaji Inusah back, some of us will quit the party.” Mr. Bagbin was answering questions on the possibility of Inusah’s return to the NDC, if the NPP refuses to accept him.

Mr. Bagbin said if some members of the NDC felt it was right to have the “maverick” Inusah back, it was their right to do so but said ” some of us will rather quit the party than have him back. Inusah’s last week announcement that he had quit the NDC and was going back to his former party the NPP has generated lots of controversy and anger.

Some NPP members and supporters have expressed anger at the move, describing him as opportunistic and diabolical, and NDC members have also hailed the move as good riddance. Former President Jerry Rawlings has described him as good material that the NPP might lose if they refuse to accept him back into their fold.

Last year in the run up to the December 2000 General Elections, Alhaji Inusah who was the campaign manager for the current President John Agyekum Kufuor during the 1996 General Elections, caused one of the greatest stir in the political circles of the country when he announced his defection from the NPP to the NDC. – Myjoyonline
