Ministry of Trade bans imported poultry feet

Accra (Greater Accra), 3rd Sept. 99 – The Ministry of Trade and Industry has banned the importation of poultry feet with immediate effect.

A statement issued on Thursday in Accra and signed by Mrs E. F. Obeng, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, said, “for health reasons and with immediate effect, imported poultry (chicken, duck, turkey etc)feet will not be allowed into the country”

The Ministry has also directed strict adherence to percentage of fat levels accepted in poultry and meat products imported into the country.

It said for poultry products, including chicken, duck and turkey, the acceptable level of fat is 15 per cent. For beef, it is 25 per cent, mutton 30 per cent and pork 35 per cent.
