Ministry of Information catches fire

Accra, Feb. 17, GNA – One of the storerooms of the Ministry of Information caught fire on Wednesday, but firemen of the Ghana National Fire Service have brought it under control.
The extent of damage caused is still being assessed, according to firemen on the site.
The room contained materials to decorate the Independence Square during the March 6 Independence celebration.
Outgoing Minister of Information, Mrs Zita Okaikoi, Deputy Information Minister, Mr James Agyenim Boateng and the Greater Accra Regional Minister Nii Armah Ashitey, were among a number of officials who rushed to the site. This is the second time an office at the Ministry has caught fire.
