Ministry of Education presents vehicle to NUGS

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday presented a Toyota pickup valued at 35,000 dollars to the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) in Accra.

Mr Lee Ocran, care taker Minister of Education who made the presentation, said that it was in appreciation of student’s efforts and contributions to national development.

“This vehicle is to help NUGS transport itself without limitations in the performance of its duties nationwide and further the activities towards keeping the students front peaceful among other duties,” he said.

Mr Ocran said this was not to cover the pledge to provide them with an office complex as promised in the 2008 National Democratic Congress’s manifesto.

He said in relation to the promise, the NDC had provided NUGS with five rooms on the last floor of the Accra City Campus of the University of Ghana to be used as temporal office facility.

Andrews Kofi Gyan, president of NUGS who received the vehicle on behalf of NUGS, expressed appreciation to the ministry and said the students were looking forward to other kind gestures and the fulfillment of the promise to provide NUGS with an office complex.
