Ministry of Education presents lamps to NFED

Ejura (Ash), Oct. 26, GNA -The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has presented 21 solar lamps and 46 solar radios to the Ejura-Sekyedumase District Office of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) for distribution to all facilitators of the functional literacy programme in the district.

Madam Elizabeth Owusu, District Chief Executive, who took delivery of the items, presented them to Mr Kwadwo Asenso, District Co-ordinator of the NFED at Ejura on Monday.

She charged the facilitators to ensure that the lanterns and radio sets were used for the purpose for which they had been presented to improve upon the level of learning.

Madam Owusu said the gesture showed government’s determination to ensure that “our unfortunate illiterate fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers are able to read and write so that they can make informed choices.”

Mr Asenso expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for presenting the items to the district and gave the assurance that they would be used to assist the learners acquire more knowledge and skills in reading and writing.
