Ministry Not Shielding Anybody

The Ministry of Works and Housing has denied trying to shield any of the officials implicated in the alleged corrupt practices at the Ghana Water Company Limited.

The sector Minister Hon Yaw Barimah on Tuesday told Peace fm that, the report submitted by the Justice Adade Committee which was set up to investigate the matter early last year, has been forwarded to the office of the President H.E. John Agyekum Kufour.

He said this has become necessary because, permission was sought from the President, before the Adade Committees was instituted to investigate the allegations of financial impropriety at the Ghana Water Company, so it is proper for the president to have the report before any decisions are taken on it.

He said, his ministry was expecting the response from the President last Friday, but could not come out due to the emergency crisis of ECOWAS leaders held in Accra last Sunday. Hon Barimah was however hopeful that, a decision will be taken by the president on the report, by Friday 4th October 2002.
