Ministry commends doctors for ending strike

The Ministry of Health has commended the striking doctors of the Ghana Medical Association for calling off their action.

A statement signed by the sector Minister, Miss Sherry Ayittey, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said the Ministry expressed hope that this will give way to cool heads for the continuous negotiation in finding a lasting solution to the problem.

It said ‘’the government is grateful to the Police, Military, Christian Health Association hospitals, all other health professionals and traditional medicine practitioners for the dedicated services they rendered during the strike action’.

“Ayekoo to our retired officers, who were also called to assist and held the fort in the delivery of quality health care”.

The statement said government extends appreciation to the Regional Directors and Medical Superintendents, who helped the Ministry in finding solutions to the problem.

“The Ministry of Health wishes to assure the general public that it would continue to pursue programmes that will benefit the well being of the people,” the statement said.
