Ministry asks for memo on Dansoman/Kotobabi shooting

Accra, June 20, GNA – The Committee set up by the Ministry of the Interior to investigate the Dansoman and Kotobabi shooting incidents on Tuesday invited the public to submit memoranda and other evidence in connection with the two tragedies.

It said those who wanted to make oral evidence should also contact the Committee through the “Secretary to the Committee, Ministry of the Interior, P.O. Box M42, Accra or Telephone number 021-665198”. The Committee, which was inaugurated on Wednesday May 24, is to investigate the circumstances leading to the shooting by the police of four persons at Dansoman in Accra on Friday, April 21, 2006 and the Kotobabi shooting incident on Friday May 19.

It is also to determine the identity of all the deceased, make appropriate recommendations to the Minister of the Interior arising from the findings, to advise the Minister for the Interior on any other issues relating to the incident which would forestall similar incidents. The Committee would hold its sittings at the conference room of the Ministry of the Interior. Sittings would also be held at Dansoman and Kotobabi.
