Ministers seek to serve your fellow man – Presbyterian Moderator

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, has appealed to ministers to seek to serve their fellow man than to seek their own good.

He said this at the commissioning of 48 newly trained ministerial probationers from the Ramseyer Training Centre, into the Holy Ministry of the Church, after three years of theological education.

He said the activities of some men of God were bringing Christianity into disrepute and cautioned the newly commissioned ministers against the love of money, which he said, had become a norm in the Christian ministry.

Rev. Professor Martey reminded them that the money in the church did not belong to anybody, but God and charged them to ensure that every pesewa and property of the church was accounted.

He encouraged them to stand firm and not to fall into temptation of fornication and adultery and urged them to be courageous in their ministry.

Rev. Prof. Martey asked the newly commissioned ministers to be truthful to the church’s values of providing for the material and spiritual needs of society.

He said there were socio-economic and spiritual challenges that were confronting Ghanaians, adding that their call to the ministry must be able to provide solutions to them, especially in a world that knows no peace and lacks hope.

The Moderator later led the congregation to offer a minute silence in memory of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.**
