Heightened excitement took centre stage at the Keta District Assemly last Thursday when the Minister for Food and Agriculture (Courage Quashiga) and the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey) attempted to address the second extra-ordinary meeting of the Keta District Assembly called to confirm or reject the President’s nominee for the vacant (seat of) District Chief Executive.
The two were barred by the Presiding Member of the Keta District Assembly alongside the nominee Gifty Amah Ayeh, from addressing the meeting ostensibly to stem any attempt at unduly influencing the democratic rights of participants.
So while the president toured the Volta region last week “to assess the development needs of the people of the region”, and make more converts for a good showing in that region as he goes for a second, the people who obviously appreciate the meaning of democracy took two of his ministers through the ABC of democracy.
