Minister urges the churches to call bad nuts to order

Abetifi, Aug 22, GNA – Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Eastern Regional Minister has appealed to Christian religious bodies to take a critical look at the behaviour of some churche leaders and call the bad nuts to order.

He said the behaviour of some of these so called “men of God” who preach virtue and practice vice had outraged majority of Ghanaians and it was time to check them.

Dr Appea-Kubi made the call at the opening of the 11th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Abetifi on Saturday.

He said some of these so-called men of God could not measure up to the moral standards that they set for their congregation.

He expressed regret that some of such church leaders were entangled in cases such as rape, defilement, stealing, defrauding, causing unlawful harm and many other social vices.

Dr Apea-Kubi said there was too much moral decadence in the society in the face of increasing number of churches and appealed to the leadership of the Church to lead a crusade to fight such social immoralities.

He said the history of the country could not be written without reference to the contributions of the Basel, Monrovian and Scottish m missionaries and their Ghanaian counterparts who were converted to Christianity.

Dr Appea-Kubi appealed to the church to strength and to expand the micro-credit schemes in their congregations to help create employment and encourage saving.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Rt Rev Professor Emmanuel Martey, said one major issue that would be discussed at this year’s assembly was whether the church would continue in partner churches that had opted to ordain homosexuals.
