Atimpoku (ER), April 24, GNA- The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Yaw Barimah, has called for a speedy resolution of the 14-year dispute surrounding the nomination and outdooring of a new Paramount Chief for the Akwamu traditional area.
He said, the dispute had drag on for far too long and it was time all those interested in the development of the area came together and exert some pressure on the kingmakers to resolve any lingering dispute that might have occasioned the impasse.
Addressing members of the Akwamu Mma Fekuw, an amalgamation of Akwamu citizens resident at Atimpoku near Akosombo on Saturday, Mr Barimah pleaded with the kingmakers of Akwamu to give peace a chance and as well make definite moves toward resolving all chieftaincy disputes in the area.
He also pleaded with youth organizations and other development oriented groups in the area to also exert pressure on their chiefs to take action in finding a worthy successor to the late Omanhene of the area, Nana Kwafo Akoto who died nearly fifteen years ago.
Mr Barimah dilated on the role chiefs were supposed to play as the fulcrum around which develop projects revolve in the area noting that, the absence of a paramount for that number of years could be affecting the development of the area.
