Minister promises 2,000 Ghana cedis for market project

Ashaiman, Jan 12, GNA – Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, a Minister of State, has promised market women of Zenu-Atadeka 20,000 Ghana Cedis to develop the new market.

The market, which is to cater for displaced hawkers within the municipality, would take on about 500 petty traders. Making the promise during an interaction with the market women in the area, Mr Afotey-Agbo, who is the Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso, assured them of government’s plans to provide them with good drinking water. Mr. Ellis Aferi, Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), advised the people to rally behind the NDC government for the achievement of President John Atta Mills’ better Ghana agenda. He cautioned the people to ensure sanity in the area for the development of the constituency.

Mr. Samuel Nii Laryea, a government appointee for Kpone-Kantamanso sub metro of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, said the new market would be of relevance to the Assembly in terms of revenue generation.

He appealed to the market women to co-operate with the Assembly to help develop the market. The market women complained of some major challenges confronting the= m and these include lack of warehouses, toilet facilities and a police post to ensure security.
