Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah has announced a road map to fix deplorable roads in the region.
It comes in the back of the fast deterioration of bridges, anterior, collector and local roads in the region.
Speaking to host Lantam Papanko on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, Mr Osei Mensah indicated that the roads have been categorized into priority zones with critical bridges and culverts already awarded on contract.
He explained that, “What is going on now is that the emergency ones have been given on contract and these are the roads, culverts and bridges which if not attended to, will demand a complete closure of those roads.
He outlined, “We have contractors on the Abrepo Junction- Samad Hotel Road, Anwomaso– Domeabra Road, Anwia Nkwanta – Obuasi Road, and the Aboabo – Kwadaso road,”.
The regional minister explained that other roads are categorized into urgent and necessary roads which will be tackled when funds are made available from the central government.
He however indicated that, his outfit could not be expected to fix all the roads which had been left to deteriorate in the past eight years.
