Minister of the Interior appeals to Lebanon

Accra, Aug. 11, GNA – Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Minister of the Interior, on Wednesday appealed to Lebanon to assist in the reconstruction of war-ravaged countries.

He said Lebanon, which had successfully undergone reconstruction after years of civil war, could share its experiences with countries like Liberia and Sierra Leone, which were facing similar situations. Mr Owusu-Agyemang made the appeal when Mr Michel Haddad, Ghana’s Honorary Consul in Lebanon, called on him at his office.

The Minister expressed the need for Ghana and Lebanon to deepen existing relations especially in trade and commerce, but called on Lebanese, residing in Ghana to be law abiding.

“We will not take kindly to those who flout the law.” He said the over 700 enterprises owned by Lebanese were of great benefit to Ghana and expressed the need for more of such investments. Mr Haddad pledged his commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and to create the enabling environment for entrepreneurs in Ghana and Lebanon.
