Minister of Health heads Executive Board of WHO

Kwaku Afriyie, Minister of Health, has been elected Chairman of the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

A statement in Accra signed by Mr S. Owusu Ansah, Chief Director of the Ministry, said the election was held at the end of the 56th World Health Assembly in Geneva from May 19 to 28,2003.

Dr Afriyie, whose election brings honour to Ghana, would preside over the highest decision-making body of the WHO for one year, the statement said.
