Minister meets Alavanyo, Nkonya chiefs

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Volta Regional Minister, on Tuesday held talks with a group chiefs and elders from Nkonya and Alavanyo during a Regional Security Council (REGSEC) meeting in Ho.

The meeting with the chiefs followed resumption of hostilities between the two communities last Saturday.

Two persons, one from each side, were reported shot with one losing his life.

The Ministry of Interior at the weekend imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on the two communities and banned the carrying of arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon.

Nii Afotey Agbo was confident his background and rich experience as a royal would help bring lasting peace to the area.

Nana Okotor Kofi III, Nkonyahene, who led the delegation from Nkonya told the GNA, “only the truth will settle the land dispute.”

Togbe Tsedze Atakora VII, Paramount Chief of Alavanyo, said there was hope for peace but all must be truthful.
