Minister lauds Ghana’s relation with South Africa

Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, the Minister of the Interior, on Tuesday lauded the existing good relationship between Ghana and South Africa, saying it was a demonstration of the ideals of South-South Cooperation.

Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Owusu-Agyemang expressed the hope that the two countries could work together through a single policy to address some of the common problems they face.

He praised the South African government’s support to Ghana for improving the performance of the Police Service.

Mr Owusu-Agyemang said the Government would provide more vehicles to the Police to further improve their mobility. Ghana will also further the relationship between the Prison Service and the South African Correctional authorities to impart knowledge to prison inmates.

Mr Rapu Molekane, the High Commissioner, said his government would continue to facilitate the relationship of the South African Police Service and their counterparts in Ghana.

He praised the role of President John Kufuor and President Thabo Mbeki in bringing hope and peace to the countries on the continent, saying both believe that good governance was a key in the growth of the two countries.
