Minister inspects progress of work at Kumasi Airport

Kumasi, Nov. 14, GNA- Miss Gloria Akuffo, Minister of State, Aviation Ministry, on Wednesday inspected progress of work at the Kumasi Airport.

She was accompanied by Mr. Simon Allotey, Acting Director-General of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mrs. Esi Annor Sackey, Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company and Mr G.K.Scott, Chief Director of the Ministry.

Workers were seeing busily working on the various structures of the Airport including the Rescue and Fire Fighting Service block and the Meteorological offices and the control tower when the Minister and her team arrived at the place.

Conducting the Minister and the team round, Mr. Stefano Ramella, Managing Director of Consar, contractors working on the project, said old structures would not be destroyed because they looked solid and strong instead they would be repaired and painted. Mr. Issac Addai, a representative of the of Consultant to the project, who took the Minister and her team to the runway, said the first phase of work would involve repair works to be followed by over-lay of asphalting.

Mrs. Akuffo told newsmen that the project would be implemented in phases. The Minister and the Team earlier paid a courtesy call to Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, the Asantehene.
