Minister inaugurates Shama Assembly

Shama, March 16, GNA – Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Tuesday inaugurated the second session of the Shama District Assembly at Shama. The 27-member house, including three females, comprises 17 elected, eight government appointees, the District Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament.

Mr Aidoo appealed to the house to work in unity with a common purpose to seek the fast development of the district. He stressed the need for them to work with transparency to avoid mistrust and speculations which normally retards development and progress.

To avoid that, the Minister advised that they refer matters of controversy to the appropriate sub committee. Madam Emelia Arthur, out going District Chief Executive and nominated as the Deputy Western Regional Minister, appealed to the members to continue to work hard and to use the rich resources to uplift the image of the district.

Mr Gabriel Kwadwo Essilfie, the MP, appealed to the assembly members to do away with any political affiliations and rather aim at developing the district. Mr Samuel Kwame Borlu was elected unopposed as the Presiding Member and called for the co-operation of the house.
