Minister expresses satisfaction of progress of work

Kumasi, May 31, GNA – Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport, has expressed satisfaction about the progress of work on some road projects in the Ashanti Region, particularly in Kumasi Metropolis and the Kumasi-Konongo and Ejisu-Kuntanase-Bekwai trunk roads.

He said despite the delay in the execution of the Kumasi flyover and the Ejisu-Kuntanase-Bekwai projects, other projects were on course. Briefing newsmen after inspecting some of the projects on Monday, the Minister said despite the delay of works on the Moshie-Zongo project, 40 per cent of it had been completed.

Dr Anane said initially, he was not happy with the delays but after listening to the grievances of the contractors, he found out that they had genuine problems.

The Minister also visited Neoplan Ghana Company, to inspect the progress of work on the assembling of buses to augment the Mass Metro Transit transport system where he was told that 10 out of the 100 buses had been assembled.

Dr Anane said the company is supposed to assemble additional 120 buses next year to ease congestion on the roads.
