Minister Denies Joining NPP

The Minister of state in charge of Education, Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament for Akan, Hon. Rashid Bawa has denied joining the NPP.

He made this known in Parliament on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 when the Minority Chief Whip,

Hon. Doe Adjaho questioned his eligibility to continue to be in Parliament as Hon. Rashid Bawa has crossed carpet to the NPP. Referring to article 97, One H of the constitution, Hon. Doe Adjaho said any Independent Member of Parliament who crosses carpet to any political party ceases to be a member of the House.

When the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Peter Ala Adjetey asked Hon. Rashid Bawa whether he has joined the NPP or not, he replied in the negative. Hon. Bawa then challenged the Minority Chief Whip to back his assertion with evidence but Hon. Doe Adjaho said he would substantiate his claim at the appropriate time.
