Minister commends contractor working on Victoria Park project

Cape Coast, Jan 5, GNA – Nana Ato Arthur, the Central Regional Minister, on Thursday commended Sammy Ray Construction Ltd, the contracting firm working on the Victoria Park project at Cape Coast for work done so far.

He said if the contractor should continue with the current pace of work, he was hopeful that the project would be completed ahead of schedule.

The regional mi nister, who had inspected the project, told newsmen that the project was one of those earmarked in each of the 10 regions of the country in commemoration of Ghana’s 50th independence anniversary.

The project, which is being undertaken with funds provided by the government at an estimated cost of four billion cedis, comprises a Presidential dais, spectators and media stand, guests stand, toilet facilities and a space for the construction of more stands in future.

Nana Arthur said the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) intended to provide funds for the construction of external drains and a fence-wall round the park as well as building additional stands.

Mr Samuel Mensah, the contractor, said his seriousness could be judged from the level of work done so far.

He said he started work on December 22 last year and would complete it on February 23.
