Minister cautions Police to live above reproach

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed–Muniru, Upper East Regional Minister at the weekend cautioned police personnel to live above reproach during their line of duty to maintain law and order.

“It is very sad to note that very often than not we hear from the mass media of allegations of some police personnel involvement in criminal activities like extortion of money from drivers and armed robbery,” he said.

Alhaji Mohammed–Muniru gave the caution during a send-off party organised for the out-going Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Bright Oduro.

The minister noted that these negative tendencies tarnish the image of the Police Service and erodes the confidence and the credibility of the public in the personnel.

He commended DCOP Oduro for exhibiting quality leadership in the region particularly in maintaining peace in Bawku and reducing the crime rate.

DCOP Oduro listed flash points in the region where security is often undermined as Sherigu-Yikene, Soka-Bisi and Dorongo, Tongo-Beon and Gono, Kuzugo-Buru and Navio.
