Minister asks staff to take part in AMA cleanup

Accra, Jan. 26, GNA – The Minister of Health, Major Courage Quashigah on Thursday urged all staff of the Ministry to support the cleanup exercise being organized in Accra on Saturday by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

A statement signed by Mr Dan Osman, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, said Major Quashigah had also requested staff of all hospitals, polyclinics, Ghana Health Service, Food and Drugs Board and nurses, among others, to participate in the exercise, which would be between 0530 hours and 1200 hours.

The statement said the Ministry would provide ambulances, disinfectants, first aid kits and protective clothing to the AMA. “The exercise will impact positively on the health sector, so the Minister expects all staff to be deeply involved in their individual community cleanup exercises, to help to rid the city of the filth engulfing us and reduce many preventable illnesses.” The statement said the Minister would personally go round to acknowledge staff that would participate in the exercise.
