Minister appeals to houses of chiefs’ staff to foster peace

Mr Mohammed Limuna-Muniru, the Northern Regional Minister on Tuesday appealed to house of chief’s staff to support the government to foster peace in the region.

He said the staffs of the houses of chiefs should be responsible to play their professional duties to stop conflict in the region.

Mr Limuna-Muniru made the appeal in Tamale during the Northern regional house of chief’s staff meeting to review their work and to enhance the knowledge of the staffs.

He also urged the staffs to join the government to fine a lasting solution to the conflict in the region to improve the living standards of the people by creating the congenial environment for peace and unity.

Mr Ismail Alimu, the registrar Northern regional house of chief’s said the staffs of the chieftaincy was operating under very difficult circumstances.

He stated that the staff lives were under threat whenever chieftaincy or land disputes crops up within their jurisdiction.

He said “sometimes in carrying out our duties we are misunderstood by the public and even some public institutions including the security agencies especially the police”.

He therefore appealed to the public to understand the work of the staffs so that they can also discharge in a peaceful atmosphere.
