Nsunensa (B/A), March 12, GNA – Mr. Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, has urged the youth engaged as teaching assistants and health extension workers under the National Youth Employment Programme to aim at pursuing higher education. Addressing a section of them during a visit to Nsunensa in the Nkoranza District, Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi, who is the MP for the area, advised them not to regard their assignments as permanent jobs. You should see your present assignments “As a stepping stone to improve your academic performance to enter tertiary institutions”, Mr Ampofu-Twumasi said.

The Deputy Minister asked them to avoid seeking pleasures but to concentrate on their books and shun social vices and other unproductive lifestyles.

Mr. Amatus Domobong, Head Teacher, commended the Deputy Minister for the visit and appealed for the construction of a new classroom block to replace the existing one, which he described as “A death trap” to the staff and the 180 pupils.

He appealed to the District Assembly to provide cement and other building materials to assist the community to provide accommodation for teachers in the area.
