Accra The Tripartite Committee said today that it has agreed that the current daily minimum wage of 1,700 cedis should be increased. In a communique issued in Accra, the committee said it has been meeting since February over the question of a new daily minimum wage for this year. It said it has agreed that the wage component of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s) which will be affected by the envisaged increase should be advanced for negotiation in the shortest possible time. The modalities for implementing the advancement of wage negotiations under CBA’s and the fixing of a new national minimum wage are being worked out, the communique said. The Committee will reconvene on May six to conclude its deliberations. The communique was signed by Alhaji Muhammed Mumuni, Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Christian Appiah Agyei, Secretary-General of the TUC, and Mr G. Owusu, Executive Director of the Ghana Employers Association.
