Mills was my inspiration – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has said that his predecessor, late President John Mills, was and continues to be a source of motivation for him, five years after his death.

According to Mr Mahama, who served as Vice President under late Mill, his mentor is ”a man of great moral courage and strength” adding “he remains a source of inspiration to me & our nation!”

Prof Mills died in 2012 after an undisclosed illness.

Meanwhile, the late president’s younger brother Samuel Atta Mills joined some legislators to express anger over the deplorable state and poor maintenance of the burial grounds (Asomdwee Park) of his brother.

This comes in the wake of preparations to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Prof Mills’ passing.

According to the MP for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) constituency, the state of the final resting place of his brother is clearly an insult to his memory and stature.

He and other MPs questioned why managers of the park have abandoned it to deteriorate. “A visit to the place shows it is not receiving the required attention and maintenance,” Mr Mills told parliament, adding that “a well-crafted metallic cover of the tomb has developed green cracks detaching itself from the rest of the artifact”.
