Accra, March 17, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday asked Chinese companies to consider the interest of their workers or the people they dealt with in their business operations. He said they should also give some equity to the owners of land on which they put up their buildings for the landlords to consider themselves as stakeholders in the business.
President Mills gave the advice when a delegation from Tianshi Limited, a Chinese company, dealing in herbal products, acupuncture other medical services called on him at the Castle. The president said there were a number of Chinese investors in the country and gave the assurance that government would create a level playing field to enable the companies to provide jobs that would lead to the growth and development of the country.
He said the company was obviously on the right track of providing jobs, which was one of the major objectives of the government. President Mills said government would continue to provide the enabling environment for businesses to flourish and prayed that the Chinese company would grow from strength to strength. Mr Kwesi Huong Jin, Managing Director of the Company in Ghana and West Africa, who led the delegation, congratulated President Mills on his election.
He said for the eight years that the company had been in Ghana, about one million people had benefited from its health services and 10,000 people were distributing its products. He announced that the company was trying to open a modern super market in the country and appealed for support of government to acquire land.
